The only thing i can suggest, other than getting cameras (which i know is not free) is to use your phone to start recording and have it near you if you even feel in danger from anyone.  Even if the audio is only usable.

I would debate that.  It would make every security camera/device illegal.  Obviously you can't go sticking mics and/or camera anywhere to record people without their knowing, but this is where the exceptions would come in.  For example...

  1. The parties to a conversation consent to the use of a listening device.
  2. A listening device is needed to protect the lawful interests of a person.
  3. The use of the device is in the public interest

I would think number 2 here applies to your situation perfectly.  This is from the surveillance fact sheet for the SA Surveillance Devices Act 2016.

For your reference...

https://www.lawhandbook.sa.gov.au/media/FactSheet_Surveillance.pdf

It also clearly states that one of the exemptions to the prohibition of information used from surveillance devices is ... "A person subjected to violence or an immediate threat of violence uses surveillance to keep evidence of offending."

By the way, i'm no lawyer, so don't take this as legal advice.  But you deserve to be safe and you have the right to make your home safe from threats.  And part of that protection is surveillance.

No worries.  I just want you to be able to feel safe.  You have enough worrying you at the moment.

You can't do it on your own, you need support and help.  Anyone would.  So don't be too down on yourself.  You should have had far more support in the past.  But we'll do what we can to help you rectify that as much as we can.
