COME SHARE YOUR PASSION PROJECT

Re: COME SHARE YOUR PASSION PROJECT

Hi @PeppyPatti , yeah, I’ve been around for a bit. I’m usually working so I don’t have much time to post even though my heart is in it.

i work in a school and had a few days off because I wanted to resign. I’m having second thoughts now because I like the place I’m at. I just don’t like 2 people. But what’s 2 ppl out of 2500? It’s not even 0.1%

Maybe I have to put my head down and just return? Tell the prin, ‘Honey! I’m home!’ (From the movie, Honey I shrunk the kids)

Re: COME SHARE YOUR PASSION PROJECT

@BPDSurvivor

If I'm honest I don't like labels, I just like that there's other people like me, I think a lot of neurodivergent conditions overlap and it's hard to say it's this that our the other because of the significant overlap.

I've been called autistic, ADHD, BPD, CPTSD, I just think we all want to understand.

Not concerned, doesn't change me, just makes it all overwhelming when people don't know which box to put you in.

My last psychologist gave me homework to research the difference between autism and C-PTSD because someone called me spectrummy.

I just call myself neurodivergent because I got sick of being told to be normal and change my behaviour. If it's a condition they leave you alone more.

Re: COME SHARE YOUR PASSION PROJECT

Saw The Blues Brothers on DVD last week - I don't think iv seen honey iv shrunk the kids but ........lol

I think @Appleblossom will agree with me that aggressive work buddies are everywhere. My ex husband taught me this trick and it's " don't speak to them or about them, it's a waste of air."

You get the drift.

I was a carer in the community for years and years and I cleaned houses. My youngest son was very ill for all his childhood but he's better today

In 2018 I was at a work Christmas do. I was sitting there with another carer/ work lady when this lady with long blond hair and a firm look on her mouth came to talk to me. She's says," oh it's you.........remember me from manual handling courses. You are the woman who's son is so sick, you always needed your phone on. I say

Yes he's better now

And she says " oh that's great !" We would all sit behind you and laugh and laugh at you because you had so much stress we didn't understand how you could work.

I said, "Oh that's okay, how are you today?"

Oh good ! Fell in love I'm happy"

So I say, oh, you know, do you think, all those years you could have say dropped me off a meal or something at work? Something that may have helped me ?

She stops, states at me and walked away. I never ever saw her again

Lol

I have found this website helpful

https://neurodivergentinsights.com/misdiagnosismonday/

Just to understand what is considered normal and it helped me accept that I'm neurodivergent

Re: COME SHARE YOUR PASSION PROJECT

Really awesome thoughts there @avant-garde

so true about people expecting you to be ‘normal’. It’s like the too-hard-to-explain so I’ll tell you I’m neurospicy.

spot on!

Re: COME SHARE YOUR PASSION PROJECT

@BPDSurvivor

neurodivergent

what does it mean?

it means an acronym

or maybe three

it means that we're different

we're not what they think

we're a little bit spicy

we think differently

some like our lists

some tend to fidget

some bounce off the walls

some in our heads

basically, all that it is

is the boxes we tick

but we fit in so many

they just don't get it

we don't fit in one box

we fit in two maybe three

we tend to think different

that a box won't hold me

so yes I've been thought

to fit in each box

told that I have

this that and what?

but you'd actually be wrong

you can't tell me I'm that

you're not a doctor

your opinions just that

so get off your high horse

and learn to shut up

we don't need your opinion

we need you to embrace us

let us be real

let us be free

not stuck in a box

let me be me

Re: COME SHARE YOUR PASSION PROJECT

@avant-garde yes Neff’s site can be good. Yes probably aspie, definitely spicy, even though I try to be bland and not rock any boats. I used to be a Venn diagram girl but today seeing all of them are addling my wits. Lol

@BPDSurvivor I was curious about spectrum when they first started it. Lots of things are spectrummy. At the time I had just heard of Asperger’s. It’s just that we are all human with similarities and differences.

@PeppyPatti Yes. No good dealing with the agro girrrllls. Good you stood up for yourself. Yes it is a hard slog in life but you celebrate your quirkiness. Yay!

@rav3n love your impetus behind this thread.  Seems a lot of us have a passion for understanding all things mental health. Meetoo.

Re: COME SHARE YOUR PASSION PROJECT

@Appleblossom

There's a lot of shorthand there that I don't understand

Re: COME SHARE YOUR PASSION PROJECT

Sorry @avant-garde probably me trying to be brief and not rant too long.

thank you for noticing and saying so.

I did STEM way back when it was unusual for girls, Escaped from a lot of childhood trauma, with parents with serious mental illness, into the lovely world of the mind and logic. Helped a bit but we also have to grapple with social and emotional realities. I found neurodivergent ideas helpful in understanding myself. Probably a good masker.

Re: COME SHARE YOUR PASSION PROJECT

Interesting @Appleblossom  about neurodiversity, different ideas and STEM. Why? Because I’m a STEM teacher and I love it. I don’t like generalist teaching because it’s BORING!
