Re: Who am I? Who are you? Who are we?

Welcome justanother47yr! I'm a big fan of dogs (hence, my profile pic) but unfortunately I can't have one where I live so I like to live off other people's experiences. What's your little buddy like?

Your craft work sounds interesting too, and a great dream to aspire to. How long have you been doing it?

Re: Who am I? Who are you? Who are we?

What a nice idea! ... okay.

1. I love art old and new. Painting is my vocation and joy. Flipping through an art history book or magazine reminds me of that and is a great source of inspiration and grounding

2. The bush and the beach. I love walking walking walking outside. Having a mountain trail or shoreline all to myself on a crisp wintery day is such a treat. I'm very lucky to live near both.

3. I drink lots and lots of tea. Black with honey please. And a lap cat if possible. mmmm always soothing

4. Music. Either lying back with my eyes shut and my headphones. Or if the mood takes me a secret strum on the guitar and a private sing-along.

5. Youtube... I love learning sciencey-humaney things in lovely little 5-10 minute chunks.

Loving everyone's replies! Smiley Happy

Re: Who am I? Who are you? Who are we?

Hi

Smiley Happy

I've enjoyed reading the interests of others, which has made me realise I like some of those things too!

- I like looking through opp shops, (it's the hunt of what might be found). Even better when someone complements you on the item, and you tell them you bought it at an opp shop.

- reading, what a luxury! Of interest, auto biographies particularly of people who have over come great adversity.

- my daily grind, coffee that is!

- forensic scientist type shows i.e.silent witness, even better if it's real crime, like solving cold cases through new evidence.

Anybody else with me??

Re: Who am I? Who are you? Who are we?

I am a wearer of many hats, geek, gamer, friend, consumer, peer, and all of them are a part of who I am, but none are allowed to define me. A few things I like are

1. Food, there are few pleasures greater than sharing a meal with someone. I have memories of sitting in far off places sharing food with people I never dreamt I would have the pleasure of meeting. A friend challanged me once to list some of the more exotic foods I had eaten. I think I broke their poor brain!

2. Walking. try it sometime! Steping out on a clear summer night and just breathing in the world, or taking a walk in a fog covered forest, or in my local area when the mist reflects the lights, these are things that still my mind

3. Music. In my opinion the greatest art form ever.

4. Reading. At teh moment I am reading a few different things. I am rereading "To K*** a Mockingbird", and devouring "the Origin of the species", "a treatise on the theory of special relativity", "The God Delusion" and for pleasure I read the science section of the ABC news feed everyday.

5. People. I save the best for last! Without people all of the above would not be possible, we tiny specs of carbon on an insignificant dot oribiting a quite ordinary star, have achieved truly amazing things. We are resiliant and quite crazy as a species!

Re: Who am I? Who are you? Who are we?

After reading the many posts above I find I have many similiar interests.

1.I love eating out at a great restaurant or cafe. I do not like cooking anymore, as I have cooked 3 meals a day for the past 20+ years cooking for my family.

2.I also love walking. I used to walk everyday for one hour but after my life was turned upside down 2 years ago, I could no longer get out a bed let alone walk around the block. I am slowly getting back to walking my dog every night for 30 minutes. I really enjoy the peace and serenity.

3. I love inspirational music and I meditate every day for at least 30 minutes. It has helped me with my health to lower my bl pressure.

4. I read books on the train (on my phone) going to work each day. I am reading "The Afterlife of Billy Fingers" at the moment. also tarting on "The New Psyco-Cybernetics".

5. I also love being around my friends, family and meeting new people. We are all connected and sometimes all it takes is a smile to brighten someone's day. That is worth getting out of bed for.

Re: Who am I? Who are you? Who are we?

Hi there everyone! I love where I live, a rural town...it is just my pace, feel contented, and there is a great peer support group which I can access. I adore anything to do with needle and thread, knitting etc, any fibre art I guess with lots of colour options. Oh yeah, the beach is down the road and I can see snow covered mountains, in certain roads in town. I love history!

Re: Who am I? Who are you? Who are we?

Hi, I'm new to this.... my partner / ex (depends on the day / week / time) is fairly newly diagnosed with adult ADHD & OCD and we think the psych is working on a borderline personality disorder diagnosis at this time.

About me:-

1) i love spending quality time with my daughter

2) the drive-ins / or movies cuddled up at home

3) muay thai (a staple exercise regime for my well being)

4) coffee with my friends

problem is that my partner gets jealous of my relationship with my daughter, hates me training muay thai and will not socialise with my friends & in fact if I inisist on seeing my friends alone, I'll receive a barrage of phone calls & texts to the point of sending me into an anxiety attack of my own.

It's very hard being with someone who doesnt (or can't) love me for me. Dont know how to control the abuse yet, so I'm taking time out. I dont know if I can step back into that role of carer again. I've just been diagnosed with depression as a result of the years of battering.

Re: Who am I? Who are you? Who are we?

I live in a small town with high unemployment, so there are always people walking about. I try to walk everyday , and I say g'day to folks I pass, young persons, older folk, scary older folk on those mobility things. It is amazing that most folk respond even though it is automatic, but hey if you are lonely or in my case fat, middleaged and female...it is wonderful to know you are not really invisible.
