Re: Battles

Thanks @Glisten. Considering the shopping centre is supposed to be friendly to people with hidden disabilities, I didn't feel like i was treated fairly.

I'll be writing up an email either later tonight or tomorrow.

@Dreamy

Oh, well see... the Lego incident is the exact reason i hate those scanners.  Lucky you knew the woman there and it wasn't too embarrassing... well as much as it could have been.  What Lego did you get by the way?

I'm the same with Coles as well.  I only go there if I have no choice.  Even the 3 express checkouts have recently been replaced so that the first two are self serve.  So when i wait for the 1 express checkout to serve me, i'm standing there in the way if anyone wants to use those two self serve stations!  It's like they don't want me there.  I'm happy to oblige.

Yep, our brains will do that, which make it hard to know when we are overreacting and when we're not.  You definitely aren't in this case though.

I'm doing okay.  I think just a lot a stuff has happened withing the past few weeks and it just took it's toll.  So i've listened to advice and am just taking it easy.  So I haven't been online much recently, just answering a few of the posts directed to me.  I'm feeling a lot more back on top of things but it is nice to take a lot of the pressure off myself to always be there for everyone, and more importantly i guess, to want to fix things that i can't.  So i've learnt a lot about caring for myself.  A bit like all those decades of people-pleasing for people who never appreciated it, I've learnt that I can take some time for myself and people who care will understand, and that it's not letting anyone down to wind back my 'activities' for a few days.

Re: Battles

@MJG017 it's a roller-skate, now I have a pair. Well I will when I get to build it 😂.

I hate the way they have it all set up, it's just stupid and causes me so much anxiety. I also hate how kmart has their registers in the middle of the shop, like who thought that was really a good idea 😂.

Glad you have been taking it easy, you definitely need to look after yourself everyone else can wait. It's so hard wanting to fix everyone's problems cos it's just not possible no matter how hard we wish we could. Then we end up in that cycle of thinking that we are failing others by not trying. You know we are always here for you and understand when you need to take time for yourself. I only worry when I don't hear from you but that's just me, so I'll just leave a message to check in with you and wait for you to respond when you feel up for it 😊.

Re: Battles

LOL @Dreamy - agreed about the registers. I nearly walked out without paying the other day because I don't 'pass' the registers on the way out. I looking in my bag when I was on my way out, then realised I forgot to pay... I honestly forgot...

I'd like to know the thinking behind it too. There must be a reason.

Re: Battles

@tyme haha that's classic and honestly something I would do. It's just such a silly design.

@tyme @Dreamy

I haven't been to a Kmart in so long, i'm surprised they still have their registers in the centre... no one liked it when they first did it.  If I recall they're rationale was 'customer convenience' and that it would make it easier to get into the store because all the queues and checkout and stuff wouldn't be in the way.

Re: Battles

I'll go do some research because it doesn't make sense, but it much have some logic in it @MJG017 @Dreamy  - just convenience? Then why haven't all other store followed suit?

Re: Battles

@Dreamy

Yeah, I think i do need to be better at looking after myself.  I've always just carried on regardless of how i feel.  I just think now that I need to be better at it as, yep, I do fall into that trap as well of feeling like i'm failing people.  It's always felt like i just have to go on until i can't anymore.  I need to not get to that point anymore, but I just start stressing over small things and i just need to learn to take it easy a little bit. I do try not to make people worry, but i guess that's the other side of not looking after myself.  Other people notice that i'm struggling before i do, so i'm not really stopping people from worrying by forcing myself to carry on like nothing is wrong.

Look at me, getting all wise and stuff! 🤣

Re: Battles

@MJG017 it's so easy to do though. We just keep going until there's nothing left to give and only then do we realise that it's all too much and we need to look after ourselves. But even then our brains go to the thinking of but then I'm letting people down if I don't help them. It's not that you make people worry it's that we genuinely care and when we don't see you on for a few days we just want to make sure all is ok.

Don't get wise, it's a trap 😂

@tymeMy thought was that Kmart decided they wanted to look more 'upmarket' like a Myer or David Jones with their layout of nice entrances rather that the 'supermarket' look of a BigW or Target, with all their checkouts along the front.  Maybe K-mart thinks it benefits them... who knows.  I think a lot of these b&m stores are struggling so much that they will try anything and hope something works for them.  Having a similar range of items to what they used to have 10 or 15 years ago might help.
