Looking after ourselves

Re: a song to express our feelings

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TytGVo1O3_w"Don't Stop"

[Lindsey Buckingham:]
If you wake up and don't want to smile
If it takes just a little while
Open your eyes and look at the day
You'll see things in a different way

[Buckingham and C. McVie:]
Don't stop thinking about tomorrow
Don't stop, it'll soon be here
It'll be here better than before
Yesterday's gone, yesterday's gone

[Christine McVie:]
Why not think about times to come?
And not about the things that you've done?
If your life was bad to you
Just think what tomorrow will do

[Buckingham and C. McVie:]
Don't stop thinking about tomorrow
Don't stop, it'll soon be here
It'll be here better than before
Yesterday's gone, yesterday's gone

[Buckingham and C. McVie:]
All I want is to see you smile
If it takes just a little while
I know you don't believe that it's true
I never meant any harm to you

[Buckingham and C. McVie:]
Don't stop thinking about tomorrow
Don't stop, it'll soon be here
It'll be here better than before
Yesterday's gone, yesterday's gone

[Buckingham and C. McVie:]
Don't stop thinking about tomorrow
Don't stop, it'll soon be here
It'll be here better than before
Yesterday's gone, yesterday's gone

[Buckingham and C. McVie:]
Don't you look back
Don't you look back
Don't you look back
Don't you look back

I took the supermarket flowers from the windowsill
I threw the day old tea from the cup
Packed up the photo album Matthew had made
Memories of a life that's been loved
Took the get well soon cards and stuffed animals
Poured the old ginger beer down the sink
Dad always told me, "don't you cry when you're down"
But mum, there's a tear every time that I blink

Oh I'm in pieces, it's tearing me up, but I know
A heart that's broke is a heart that's been loved

So I'll sing Hallelujah
You were an angel in the shape of my mum
When I fell down you'd be there holding me up
Spread your wings as you go
And when God takes you back we'll say Hallelujah
You're home

I fluffed the pillows, made the beds, stacked the chairs up
Folded your nightgowns neatly in a case
John says he'd drive then put his hand on my cheek
And wiped a tear from the side of my face

I hope that I see the world as you did cause I know
A life with love is a life that's been lived

So I'll sing Hallelujah
You were an angel in the shape of my mum
When I fell down you'd be there holding me up
Spread your wings as you go
And when God takes you back we'll say Hallelujah
You're home

Hallelujah
You were an angel in the shape of my mum
You got to see the person that I have become
Spread your wing
And I know that when God took you back he said Hallelujah
You're home

The reason I chose this song is for my Mum who died early one Saturday morning in the winter of 1990 from a brain haemorrhage. She was an amazing individual and philanthropist. With my Brother (also deceased), she raised a lot of money to bring impoverished people from around the world to Australia for life-saving medical treatment. She was truly an Earth angel that didn't completely die, she just went home. Every single day I miss her and the sad thing is I only have a few photos of her to remind me what she was like. I was only a child when she passed and 27 and a half years later, my memories aren't as good as they once were. Although this song is about someone who obviously had passed away after an illness, my Mum suffered much in life with mental health issues herself and was under constant extreme stress.

I loved my Mum and every single time I hear this song, I tear up. I even left handwritten lyrics of the song on her gravesite to express how much this song reminds me of her. That and Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond.... one of her favourite songs.

Re: a song to express our feelings

@Maggie He is retiring!!!! Am devestated ... but nothing to do but move on. Dr G said he would try and get a psychiatrist for myself and my son but with so many people not without him it will be very hard. I learnt yesterday there was a two year waiting list to be one of his patients ... it is a loss for everyone ...

Enough about me feeling sorry for myself I am sorry you aren't feeling great atm. That's not good. I hope you are feeling a bit better tomorrow xxx

Re: a song to express our feelings

Oh dear @greenpea that really is devastating. I hope you and your son find a new therapist, good ones are hard to find. Take care.
