Clipperton Rock is the remains of the island's now extinct volcano;[31] because it includes this rocky remnant, Clipperton is not a true atoll and is sometimes referred to as a 'near-atoll'.[32] The surrounding reef in combination with the weather makes landing on the island difficult and anchoring offshore hazardous for larger ships; in the 1940s American ships reported active problems in this regard.

 

So we are not even a true atoll ...

We are a near-atoll...

worthy description I feel..

 

Somewhere I read ...days ago...yes has taken this long...

that there was a famous pirate who captured or visited this island....

 

Main thing is hard for people to land here....

 

We also have our own lagoon and have tuna fishing...
