@Appleblossom thankfully I had some good teachers, unfortunately it was some of my classmates that were the problem. Worst of all is one that was a really good friend who unfortunately has an elitist persona due to the fact they were a prominent athlete with a local sports club and from a family with a strong name and presence in the community.
At one point this person was one of my best friends but as we finished our secondary education, they were one of the most prolific in the ridicule and bullying. When I played sport in the same team, they even developed a derogatory nickname which stuck with some people.
Years later I played with an opposing team and one of the young, entitled team members gave me a different derogatory nickname which several players thought was funny. It was demeaning and cruel but because the person was 'entitled' it seemed to be ok and nobody felt it was worth correcting.
