Re: Introduction

Hello lovelies! I just remembered, I've been meaning to say, the one thing they didn't do in the wild west was respect native Americans and their culture, we need to be better than them in that regard. I know we mostly talk about cowboys so it's not an issue, but I think big chief and little foot might be crossing a line. I'm not sure, I'm not really up to date on who they're meant to be or where they came from so up to you guys to decide if you reckon we're in the red or the green there. I'm ok if you're ok, just wanted to flag it 🙂

It’s ok @LeChuck

We are new age cowboys and we are accepting of everyone including Indians.

Re: Introduction

I think I'm being over sensitive or maybe the PC police but I'm not sure that Indians is ok either

Re: Introduction

Ok they are Native Americans that live on the borders of Grey Rock. They were introduced by the Lioness.

@LeChuck @tonys @Sophia1

This is an imaginary town that bends rules. We don’t have to be historically correct. I quite like Big Chief and Little Foot. They add colour to the town. @Sophia1 Introduced them and so I am good to have them hanging around.

Re: Introduction

Hello @LeChuck @Oaktree @tonys

Morning all

I had not thought about Big Chief and Little Foot from  that perspective Le Chuck.

I understand where you are coming from. A good question.

I was born in Canada where there are also some North American Indians living. Were way back then anyway.

My books are printed pre- cultural respect advancements.

I was coming from  a place where as a child I remembered them as native indians.

Terminology and correctness is changing constantly and I personally cannot keep up with it.

I have always had a strong passion, love for their culture and way of life. A strong interest in their lifestyle and philosophies.

I hate to think that I am insulting them in any way as I feel that I connect with them from a child perspective.

I liked them better than most white people.

I tried searching just now and different websites explain respect differently..

I think that the world has become so confused with what is and what is not politically or culturally correct.

I did find a statement that it is best to speak to the individual reservation as they all like many cultures have their own internal laws ways of respect.

This sits most comfortably with me.

I believe though that it might be best to say goodbye respectfully to them.

You are feeling uncomfortable @LeChuck , I am too now and left unsure.

How about we have a farewell celebration where we welcome them to our town respectfully as any human keeping in mind their own unique culture. We can then thank them respectfully for sharing their time with us. Thank them for what they gave us by allowing us to have some enjoyable moments with them.

Would that help you deal with this @LeChuck ?

It would help me but it needs to help all of us.

@OaktreeI can also see your perspective as it is so hard to separate innocent fun and what can be unknowingly upsetting and disrespectful to another culture.

I know that you are coming from a place of lightheartedness and do not wish to hurt anyone either.

Looking at the fun side.

Is everyone okay with that?

Please do not let me take over. I do tend to mediate quite a bit .  Had to in my real life in so many situations. Part of my work included mediating, training and handling  conflict between others.

so hopefully I have not upset anyone.

These days I find if I try and sort something out someone becomes upset.

I hope that is not the case here.

I just want to be me as you all do.

I hope that we can get back to having fun after we work through this respecting everyone's wishes.
