Feeling desperate

Hi everyone ☺️ I'm Phoenix, I live in Queensland. Looking for help with Trauma Recovery. At my age I feel I have no choice but to finally deal with my childhood trauma and live my life.

Re: Feeling desperate

Hey @Phoenix65 welcome!! Love that you are sounding so empowered about your recovery, heck yes!! 💪

Find some how to guides here, and come hang out in Newbie's Social Club or Best Friends Club if you wanna meet some folks!

Re: Feeling desperate

Hi @Phoenix65 and welcome to the forum. I find they are a friendly and supportive place

Apart from accessing this forum, have you done anything else yet, like seeing GP or a psychologist or both?

I am also trying to deal with childhood trauma as an older person

Re: Feeling desperate

Hi 👋 I'm registered with the Persistent Pain Management Team, they have different Allied health. A slow process in public health system.

Re: Feeling desperate

Hi @Phoenix65 if you want the person you reply to to see that you have replied putting @ and the first few letters of their name will bring up a box with a list you can choose them from. They will then get a notification.

I’m glad you have been linked in with same allied health services. Does that include psychology?

Re: Feeling desperate

@Till23 yes it includes psychology.

Re: Feeling desperate

That’s great @Phoenix65

I have never heard of the program, but I don’t have constant pain either.

Will you be able to talk about childhood trauma there, or will it be about managing pain

Re: Feeling desperate

@Till23 I've had a session with a psychiatrist so he will refer me to a trauma-informed therapist. The program is based at Nambour Hospital on Sunny Coast Queensland. They also have an outreach program for group therapy.

Re: Feeling desperate

Oh that all sounds promosing @Phoenix65 hope it works out ok

Re: Feeling desperate

Hi @Phoenix65
Thanks for saying it like you feel it (I’m desperate). I was feeling that too this weekend and felt so alone and ashamed for feeling so bad. You saying that reminds me that I’m not alone. I really hope the trauma therapist you’ve been referred to is amazing and that can feel a bit more whole and in one piece (or however best describes “better” for you) from seeing them
