Newbie's Social Club - Come make some friends!

Re: Newbie's Social Club - Come make some friends!

Those are fantastic goals @Aqualemonade I hope that being a part of the community here is a step towards getting you there!

Re: Newbie's Social Club - Come make some friends!

Hi @Aqualemonade

I can relate to you. I once spent a two year period in bed 18 hours a day. I just got up to get my kids to school and then spent a couple of hours with them after school. I was absolutely not functional. I ended up going to hospital and asking them to change my medication. It took a long time to move past this period of my life. I now get up early but I still sleep 10 - 12 hours at night because I go to bed super early. I go to Tafe now. There is hope.

Perfect timing @Shaz51 I just made myself a coffee

How's your Friday going?

Thank you @Ru-bee I have been this person before, I know with support, I can get back there, and I look forward to being the usual Aqua, not this shell.

Hi @Oaktree

Thank you, I'm glad you have worked through it. I keep thinking about going back to study, I had to go to work due to money, I gave up my degree.

My GP wanted to admit me this week, I declined. Just having them validate my experience helped immensely. He's given me until the end of next week off, but, will give me more if needed. Just hoping the medication sickness will ease up. Onwards and upwards.

Re: Newbie's Social Club - Come make some friends!

Welcome @Aqualemonade

I can understand at least to some extent your story (everyone's story has their own nuance). I have been in a very similar place as you. I recently retired because I thought my MH was too bad, including feeling fatigued all the time. Forced myself to keep going with sport and trying to do social stuff if invited, but no motivation and felt I got very little joy out of anything. Didn't really initaite anything myself. I don't have kids - so didn't have then as a distraction. Although I cooked I felt I could eat little and lost some weight.

After retirement I then felt I had lost my worth to society and struggled to find meaning (these are both ongoing, but not to same degree). I am slowly getting my energy back, I can think more clearly I still have fatigue but I make myself do things and have joined some new things including volunteering, being part of the forums, all of which has helped.

So although I am not some recovery "star" it is possible to recover, it's taking a while, but not forever, so there will be people on the forums in some stage of a similar journy to walk with you, offer strategies etc. I hope you get something out of interacting with us
