Introducing my pets

Introducing my pets

These two are the reason I'm still alive. My concern for their welfare overrides my own distress.

Nina is a 3.5yo  Indian Ringneck parrot. She is very social and her favourite words are "I love you" or "I love you too". I have her cage on wheels and she spends her days on the deck and is moved inside at night.

Joy is a 8-9yo Turkish Van cross. She is pretty much the boss of the house. She is my assistance cat and stays close to me when I'm not well (physically or mentally).

She gets the occasional peck on the nose from Nina if she gets too close.

Re: Introducing my pets

Awwww! What an awesome post @Scream58 !

Thank you so much for sharing! I know there are others who adore their pets too especially since they make the world all the world worthwhile!

@Zoe7

Anyone else with pets?

Re: Introducing my pets

@Scream58 @tyme My 2 little fluffballs are pretty well known across these forums - and yes they are my everything. Toby is a dog who thinks he is a cat and Clover a cat who thinks she is a dog - so they even themselves out lol

Re: Introducing my pets

LOL @Zoe7 . I've heard you speak about them, but I don't know much about them. Your description helps me thoroughly understand!

Re: Introducing my pets

haha @tyme Toby is a white Maltese Shih Tzu who I often call 'my shadow' as he is everywhere I am at - under my feet, by my side, on my lap or generally just following me around everywhere. Clover is an exotic cat - tortoiseshell in colour with a little squishy face. She always looks grumpy but is just a bundle of joy and fun. Both her and Toby are the best of friends - ever since Clover was a kitten (she is 15 months old now) she has loved Tobes. Toby always wanted a playmate - and tried really hard with Cat, who I lost last year (we always called her Cat on here because her name was unusual and would have been easily recognised to anyone that knew me) but Cat was much older and didn't want a bar of him. They lived peacefully together but Cat was a princess in her kingdom and Toby just a pleb lol So to have a playmate for Tobes now is pure joy. They play together (Clover routinely pounces on Tobes and then runs for him to chase her) and have little bitey play fights - but Tobes is so gentle with her. I really do have the best fur babies 🐶💖😺

Re: Introducing my pets

Thank you for sharing more about your fur babies @Zoe7 !

It's so good to see you receive so much joy from them.

Absolutely worth it!

Re: Introducing my pets

Hi @Scream58 @tyme @Zoe7 and others joining here. What a great discussion thread @Scream58. I’m so glad you started it so thanks for that. I’m sure there are other forum members who have pets and who would like to join in here. I’m so glad you have a bird and a cat for company as pets are great for mental

health I believe.

I have a cat, Mitz, who is a calico tortioshell so basically all white with bits of orange and black on her to ruin her precious white coat. By that, I mean she is a total 5 year old princess who knows when the camera is on her as she plays up to it. I rescued her from the local RSPCA as a kitten after deciding at 3am on Monday morning that I wanted a cat for company. My housemate/best friend went along with the idea and so Mitz found her forever home with us. She’s pretty friendly towards us but not so much with new people coming to the house. It’s taken her a decent 5 years to come around to my sister who hissed back at her when Mitz hissed at her when we were at an old rental property early in her life so now those 2 are friends to an extent. What took me to Mitz was her loud purr when we first saw her at the RSPCA as it sounded like a V8 car engine and the fact that she was prancing around in her pen like she was a little gymnast kitten which I thought was very cute. Anyhow, long story short, Mitz was available and so she came home after being desexed a few days later. We’ve only really had a bout of cat flu with her when we first brought her home which apparently is normal and a few doses of fleas, including last week which we treated quickly and is now fine. She likes climbing in my wardrobe and falling asleep in unusual places, like on top of pizza boxes for example! She also likes to try and play with my wool when I knit or crochet so I have to try and keep it out of paws way! There have been times when I haven’t been well mentally and Mitz has come up and smooched my with her body as if to say everything is going to be okay as I’m now here for you. She was like that last August when I was experiencing an psychotic episode and I love having her around!

Thanks once again for starting this thread and sharing photos of your animals with us in forumland☺️!

Take care!

Judi9877☺️😻🍀

Re: Introducing my pets

@Judi9877 your Mitz sounds a lot like Joy. Also a princess! She keeps herself so clean I was once asked if I bleach her white bits. Joy doesn't like children. She was an adult when I got her so I don't know if she was traumatized by kids in her former home. She doesn't like other animals either and gets a bit jealous of Nina. Basically she's a bit possessive.

Re: Introducing my pets

I really like that beak.

My cat got scared off by tree-lobbing next door. But then came back (eventually). Wish I could explain things to them.

Re: Introducing my pets

Yeah, a very good post - just want to share I have 3 snakes who require very little care… just feeding them once a fortnight cleaning there cage once a year. Besides that water every second day, taking there poop out when you see it. Also there’s a dog in the house who has changed personality over the years going from a pup to a 6 year old but still lovable lol
