My Place

Re: My Place

Gor the tag there looks nice @Owlunar and feel i can join and am welcome, so nice u find people and give them a virtual hug and point us to new spots

Im sorry for all you have gone through.

Grief is so hard.

I think once i realised people here wouldnt hurt me i persisted. It is moderated and maybe bullying etc is preventable.

We have an interesting community here.

Re: My Place

Hi again @EternalFlower

This forum is a very safe place to post - mostly people are genuinely kind and thoughtful - sometimes someone gets a bit tricky - the moderators though don't allow any provoking posts to appear in a forum - if you get emails sent to your computer or phone then you might see them - generally - it is a very comforting place to be.

And people tend to gather around those who are struggling - lately my friends in the thread I post on have gathered around me - not many I guess - I have known them for years and we tend to stick together though anyone is welcome - and you most certainly will be.

Lately I have had a few issues happening - being in a private general hospital for two weeks was challenging and I could read the forum on my phone but for whatever reason - my phone doesn't let me log in - getting home and getting into the forum again was so great - it is a safe place - a soft place - to fall - actually.

And it is only necessary to post to people you feel okay about - some people are really battling - they need support - it's a good idea to stick to people you feel you can help as you find your way around the forum

I hope your day is the best it can be

@Owlunar

Hi,

I saw you invited @EternalFlower to your thread. I just went and had a quick look. All my favourite people are there.

I am sorry about your arm and it’s a shame about your daughter wanting to put you in a home. I don’t blame you, I don’t want to go to a home when I am elderly either. I did a prac in one when I was a Nursing student and it was supposedly a nice one but the care was shocking. My daughter talks about putting me in a home when I am old already so I will make sure my son gets to make any decisions. I am only 52 right now so it’s a way off. My Nana and my Aunt have lived independently in their 80’s so I don’t see why I won’t be able to.

I was hoping to get your permission to join you over on your thread? If you feel comfortable with that?

Re: My Place

Hi have indeed invited you over to my thread @OaktreeMeggle - I had trouble getting your name right - but I managed that in the end.

You are only in your 50s and your daughter is talking about putting you in a home - wow - that's a bit premature - my daughter's in her 50s - I guess they have time to learn - it's great you have a son to give your Powers of Attorney too -

I feel better about my daughter tonight after talking to Lifeline about her - she has no rights with my circumstances - I am in charge of my own affairs and run my own finances - and I like my life alone.

Our kids don't have the right to decide these things for us - all my elderly relatives - including my parents - died in aged care - maybe some chose to do so - maybe they had no choice - I really don't know - for my own sake I spent time away from my family - things I have written about here and don't need to now -

Choice is everything - we need to have our choices and maintain our right to them - and that can be hard at times.

You have worked in one as a student and have some experience there - and on your side - you aunt and your nan lived independently into their 80's - I start that journey in July and determined to continue.

See you on my thread anytime - all the best

Hi guys,

Yesterday I went to the post office with my husband to post a registered letter to my daughter in Hawaii. After I posted the letter I walked out of the post office thinking my husband was right behind me. I looked behind me and he wasn't there. So I looked across the street thinking he might have already crossed the street but he wasn't there either. A bit more looking around and I was thinking he had been abducted by aliens. I finally went back inside the post office looking for him. He had spotted the perfect book for me which was even on clearance for a mere $5.00. There was a very long line so he shows me the book and says it's not worth queueing up for. I was not going to leave the book so I went and queued up for a second time. Considering that I am growing things in pots in my greenhouses it's just perfect. See picture.
