Share a cuppa?

Re: Share a cuppa?

I'm glad you understand my blah blah.... I didn't know how else to explain it @Shaz51 .

As for you mum, do you think she has the understanding that meds reduce the pain etc?

Re: Share a cuppa?

I think with mum's confusion and onset dementia is not helping her to relise it is for her health and to help her be comfortable and pain free as long as possible @tyme

sending you understanding hugs and I find i have to be careful of what to say too

Re: Share a cuppa?

Maybe it can be a de-stressor for you? @ArraDreaming

A lot of people do enjoy cooking as a pastime.

Re: Share a cuppa?

I think it is a destressor @tyme sometimes when my family is overwhelming me I put my headphones on while I’m cooking and let me partner know I need a break from the kids while I’m cooking

Re: Share a cuppa?

yummm @ArraDreaming

Re: Share a cuppa?

With the dementia etc, sometimes for their own comfort, it's better just to go with what they say. As you said, it's about helping her be as comfortable as she can @Shaz51 .

@ArraDreaming , it's good you can just tune out and cook. Very relaxing 🙂

Re: Share a cuppa?

@Shaz51 pray your mum get comfortable and painless and you get some peaceful rest. @tyme so good you have the strength to get through very difficult things @ArraDreaming love your cooking ideas sound so delicious, happy and energetic. Just woke from a nap. The wind is howling outside. Take care all

Re: Share a cuppa?

Thank you @Meowmy , @tyme

Mum has a weekly pain patch on which is helping

But like human nature , everyone worries soo much when she wants to stop taking her medication and it hard when what I say does not make any difference

So it has been hard to let her do what she wants xxx

Re: Share a cuppa?

You know what my experiences have been? Sometimes, the 'magic' needed to work with children also applies for the elderly. @Shaz51 .

Have you watched "Old People's Home for 4 year olds"? Youth and youth strategies can mean so much to them.

Re: Share a cuppa?

Oh yes @tyme 🥰

Also with me with 30 years experience in private childcare myself too
