@Meowmy, I didn't see your post until just now. Yeah I think John Farnham had a beautiful tenor voice, and he's a very talented performer, I just don't think he realised he was more musically capable than he realised. Not that if he knew he could train classically that he would've done that, plenty of classically trained musicians turn to rock music, some never to return to classical music - Elton John for example. But Elton John knows he has a huge talent, I don't think John Farnham knows he's hugely talented, and that's the danger of not having people around you who can see your gift... Also when he sings you can see he's not confident that he can get his high notes, because he's squeezing his voice to get them, whereas he doesn't need to squeeze his voice to get them, they're there already, and to protect his voice he needed to learn he'd get all his notes, high and low register by relaxing his whole body, and using his entire body as a sound flow chamber. When Elton John sings he never squeezes or compresses his head, because he knows that any notes you can't get when you're relaxed you're not going to get anyway, and Elton John's voice doesn't have the range John Farnham had, but John Farnham didn't have the confidence Elton John has.
