Life and trauma

Re: Life and trauma

@Oaktree

I'm sorry it was a difficult day for you, but i still remember the first person i spoke to who i trusted enough to open up about stuff id never ever talked about with anyone before.  It really felt like a massive weight had been lifted.  I felt like I'd lost control immediately after and felt extremely embarrassed.  But it became a break though moment for me.  It was like the dam had finally broken.  I started to find it easier to talk about things i had kept to myself for decades.

So im glad you've found someone you feel you can trust to open up like that with.  I think it will help you a lot and like me, you'll come to see it as a break through moment.  And well done resisting that comfort eating temptation.  Two massive wins today so tou should be very proud of yourself.

Re: Life and trauma

oh it's called gyro!! thanks for that, i'm going to try look for those @MJG017 aww that's so wholesome!! definitely agree that making someone smile is priceless. i can't make fidget spinners but i make bracelets to hand out at events like music festivals, and it's so nice seeing people's anxiousness turn into a smile when they receive one. fidget spinners with the SANE logo would've been so cool, i'd definitely want one!!

It’s 11pm and I am waiting on a call from my son. His fiance is at the hospital and they have been there since about 3pm. She had a CT scan and they are waiting for results. Not really sure what is wrong but yesterday she thought she had a pinched nerve in her neck. Hopefully we know a bit more soon.

I haven't heard from @Former-Member

This isn't normal

I hope she's ok

@avant-garde

I noticed she hadn’t been around the past day too.

@Oaktree

Her last contributions have me very concerned

Sleep is elusive tonight, dentist visit coming up, I hate the dentist, they tend to discount the overly sensitive and anxious patient... and not listen until she starts physically kicking and screaming

To be honest just about all of Gremlins posts have been concerning

Re: Life and trauma

@Ru-bee

Is it possible for you to send @Former-Member an email to check in on her safety. A number of us are worried about her last post combined with her not posting for the last day or so.

Re: Life and trauma

@Oaktree @avant-garde

Hopefully we hear from @Former-Member soon and she's okay.

Re: Life and trauma

Hi @Oaktree

I totally hear your concern, this is definitely one of the most challenging aspects of the forums as often we can't know for sure when or even why members are taking a break which can naturally cause us to worry. Not only is it tricky for the community, but it's difficult for us as peer support workers too as we need to uphold the privacy of all of our members, though I can assure you that when members are presenting at risk we do initiate contact via email so that we can provide support off the forums.

I'm sure that whenever Gremlin24 feels ready to return to the forums they will appreciate the care that has been shown here, but in the meantime lets focus on continuing to support each other as you all do so  beautifully
