My Place

Re: My Place

@hanami

How long was your son in Japan?

That sounds amazing.

The culture in Japan is so different.

Working there would be a great experience.

Does your son speak Japanese?

Re: My Place

I can understand you feeling lonely @Oaktree. I have felt it with all my kids now adults. My youngest is still at home. She's 19 and is amazing company. But I do often think of a time when she'll be gone and I feel that horrid empty feeling. Love my husband dealy but it's different isn't it. Like your baby/ies gave you a purpose for so long. They'll always need us though.

I hope that feeling doesn't stick around too long for you.

Re: My Place

Amazing @Oaktree  beans?

Re: My Place

I know right? @hanami

I was born to be a Mother. And now the kids are all grown up and moved out of home I am a bit lost. I have my husband and he is amazing but as you said it's not quite the same. My kids gave me purpose. Now what?

Hubby is going back to work next week too so I will be alone in the house without a car.

Re: My Place

I am off work today @Oaktree - had to take Mum to hospital and then will pick her up later. Just a day procedure but my Dad also had a small procedure this morning so my sister took him. Took a bit of juggling between us but we got it all organised.

Re: My Place

Um washing is on @Oaktree  supermarket for food shortly. Pay rent  . Not much else. Pretty achey today.

What are you up to ?

Re: My Place

He was there for 6 months @Oaktree . He's 25 and it's actually about the 5th time he's been there. He studied there for a year a few years back and ended up with a Japanese gf for about 3 years. He brought her back here but she was really homesick so went home. He can speak Japanese and is pretty good, even though he doesn't think he is. I've been twice and it's such a beautiful culture. The people are peaceful and welcoming. And the shopping and sights were amazing.

I think my son wants to return next year for another stint of work so we might go and visit then. If we can save some money.

Yes, I understand how you can feel like you've lost your purpose. Is there a hobby or something you'd like to pursue now your kids are grown up?
