Re: Battles

@tyme I have given feedback as it left me quite traumatised further having to go through that.

I'm trying to look after myself but life is really throwing alot of sh!t my way at the moment.

Re: Battles

Did you ask them to get back to you about it too @Dreamy ?

I'm sorry you felt so vulnerable after the call.

Re: Battles

@tyme no i didn't. I've been trying to not think about it. The main reason I reported it is that I don't want others to have that experience.

Re: Battles

It's a good way of putting it @Dreamy . When something similar has happened to me in the past, the reason I give feedback is to help others. It's not for me because the damage was done. And it's also not to get others in trouble.

Re: Battles

@tyme exactly, the damage was definitely done for me. I'm not sure this person meant to cause that damage but they definitely need to be made aware of how those sort of questions can have a negative impact in that situation.

Re: Battles

And look, because i work in the MH space, I'm sure it wasn't intentional. So it's good for them to be aware. It's certainly not about 'getting people in trouble'. I know it's not easy working on phones - some people have very complex needs.

I honestly take my hat off to the people who work on crisis lines.

But @Dreamy , I'm so glad you spoke up.

Re: Battles

@tyme yeah it's definitely a tough job that they do.

Funnily enough i actually called LL today and got an amazing person that was so understanding and she was quite shocked to hear everything that I've gone and am still going through. Once again I got told that I should do peer support work myself 😂. It's actually starting to become a real option for me, it's just anxiety standing in my way. I love being able to help people and having that lived experience really enables that connection to be made.

Re: Battles

And this is always what I say to people that use crisis lines. Just because it didn't work ONCE, it doesn't mean it won't work the next time. You get a different person every time @Dreamy

I'm glad you persisted @Dreamy . Just always remember that it's like a draw. You get someone different each time.

Re: Battles

@tyme I've found that I have had some good experiences phoning them more than I have using the chat service. But yes it's very much luck of the draw, there's some on chat that I refuse to speak to due to bad experiences but I just end that chat and start another.
