Topic Tuesday // Your mental health and the recent bushfires // Tues 28 Jan, 7pm AEST

Re: Topic Tuesday // Your mental health and the recent bushfires // Tues 28 Jan, 7pm AEST

That's such a great point @Former-Member  about everyone having a different experience and how important it is not to compare yourself to how others are going.  When we go through a crisis it can be hard to process information or problem solve so even doing little things like writing lists or notes to yourself can help with the frustration of forgetfulness or lack of concentration.  Also asking people around you for support even if it's something like help with the shopping.  Baby steps...

Yeah, that's an excellent point @Former-Member that there will be times when you'll need immediate support and then it may not be until 1,5 or even 10 years later that  you'll need to reach out for professional help

 Hello @Former-Member , @Former-Member , @Former-Member

I was not near the Bush fires but @Former-Member , @Former-Member , @Former-Member , @Gazza75  were affected

Thinking of my friends in sane forum land xxx

Exactly @Former-Member sometimes our resilience in these times allows us to function at a practical level and the emotional response and mental health impact is felt later. Often when no one is around.

Thanks for joining us @Shaz51 - yes it is really hard to process this tough time knowing people that were effected like some of our forum mates here. That can feel just as heavy too.

Hi @Shaz51  welcome 🙂

This may not be your experience but it can be hard also witnessning people you care about going through a tough time and perhaps even feeling quite helpless.  How have you  been managing it do you think?

Re: Topic Tuesday // Your mental health and the recent bushfires // Tues 28 Jan, 7pm AEST

Hey @Shaz51 though you may not have been impacted directly, your support to others is so important. Connection on the forum is away to provide that support.

@Shaz51 Natural disasters of any kind can impact our sense of feeling out of control. Is there anything that helped you during your experience of the cyclones that you could share with others.
