not sleeping well, determined but overwhelemed

I am not always sleeping well or coping espeically with dodgy a/c in buildings.

I have depression but I honestly believe if I was sleeping well, this wouldn't be so painful or prevalent.

Tried visiting Dr and did a blood test, and a sleep study, and had tests for allergies, then he said this is all he could try and besides seeing a sleep specialist which I can't afford, I don't know what else to do.

I've also tried new mattress, the whole shebang of sleep routine and sleep hygeine, I exercise, I have good varied diet with vegetables, no caffeeine, I don't drink or smoke, don't do drugs, don't watch pron anymore, and don't stay up late on computer.

So I really feel stuck what else to try.  And its such a friggin mystery.  Is it me, or is it the mattress?  I can't keep buying new friggin mattresses.

Thanks

Christoff

Hello @christofff

Sleep seems one of those things that determination cant fix.

We have sleep issues for a long time in our house.  Went to sleep clinic at hospital but they cant really do more than all the hygeine stuff etc.

We just have to face in our house that we are both a bit topsy turvy in sleep dept.  I am not fighting it so much which helps, but I am not holding down a full time job.

Re: not sleeping well, determined but overwhelemed

@christofff. Have you tried something as simple as sleeping tablets?  I find my depression causes my sleep disturbances. So I have a medication to help with sleep,  as well as my anti depressants.

Re: not sleeping well, determined but overwhelemed

@christofff Hi christofff you can find antihisamines (for hayfever reflief) which can make you drowsy.  That is what my daughter uses .... the trick is not to use them all the time just for a few days at a time.

Re: not sleeping well, determined but overwhelemed

Hello @christofff . It sounds like you are doing lots to help sort out your sleep issue. I go through phases of insomnia/ interrupted sleep and for me, I find  that eventually I will sleep, but I know that having less sleep makes everything more difficult for me.This week I had less than 5hrs sleep for most of the week and I eventually had a good night's sleep last night. Stick with it. I'm sure that one/some of your strategies will work eventually.

Re: not sleeping well, determined but overwhelemed

Thanks everyone.

I am doing my best to make things work in spite of being tired.

I don't give up easily.  But I also have to disagree with first lovely person (forgot your name)  - I refuse to believe that I can't have a good or even ok night's sleep like most other people, and I won't stop methodically tryi8ng and researching this until I find something that works.  Even if its just a small thing, a small change.  This week I am going to stop computers for the whole next week, bar 5 min email and phone check in morning and night, since my eyes have been feeling sore lately.  I am going on a tech cleanse.  Will post updates.
