I can hear how distressing it is to be making this decision and you're really thinking about your family at this time. It sounds like this has been so tough and you really need to step away and care for yourself right now. I'm also sorry to hear about the counsellor missing the appointment and how unsupportive it felt for you. I can imagine it would have been very disappointing.

I hope you are finding a way to look after yourself in the middle of this painful time.
