Re: A long rave

Hi and good morning to all here today.  Hope it has started peacefully for you and progresses smoothly.  Warm wishes to anyone struggling or feeling overwhelmed at the moment in the hope that today is one of the better ones for you, that you are finding the support you want both here and in your daily life.

Hope you enjoy and find the forums helpful.  We're a very supportive and friendly bunch.

Today I was meant to have my 3rd driving lesson with the MH occupational therapist specialised instructor but it's been cancelled because of fires in the area where he lives.  Which is also the area bro and sil have their community farm.  The one guy who lives there all the time has said he doesn't want to leave while it's safe to do so, despite the rest of the group all wanting him to.  Only one road out there.   Plus my uncle's home is now cut off with the one road out blocked and fires very close.  Thank goodness he got out a week ago - fires in his area going into the 3rd week now - and he will come to us tomorrow to wait it out.   So we're all on high alert here even right in the centre of town, very smoky here this morning.  Today is forecast to be hot and windy again - stay safe everyone.  If you're in an area at risk please form a safety plan and organise whatever you need to take with you.

I'll be going to water tai chi later with my support worker but that's about it for today.  I'm around for a while now if anyone wants to chat.

Re: A long rave

The fires are a lot to deal with, aren't they @eth. I'm glad your uncle got out, I hope his property will be ok. Very smoky here too. Less people around, I think lots staying home.

Re: A long rave

Hi @Smacca  I was an avid archer for years too.  My child was known as 'the blind archer' and won medals.  So I used to compete in a different division at the same time.  We loved it.  Are you into target archery or bowhunting?  I did a bit of both, used to shoot recurve.  I do miss those days.

Re: A long rave

Hi @Molliex  how are you?  How's your day looking?

Re: A long rave

Thanks for the update @eth

It's pretty horrendous conditions throughout the country this week.

Stay safe.

Re: A long rave

Have a good day @eth and best wishes as always. Bimby2.

Re: A long rave

Morning @eth  Washing this morning, later a coffee and cake group. Totally exhausted even though I slept long last night. Session with B yesterday was tough but managed to bring up what I had not answered before and also start with processing some of what has happened in the past few weeks. Never been so exhausted after a session, but she did tell me before I went that I would probably crash out and sleep after it. She sure was right! Still feeling exhausted so going to take it fairly easy today to get through. May just do colouring in between the two today. Got new metallic and sparkly gel pens at Aldi yesterday and want to give them a try.

Re: A long rave

That often happens for me too @cutiepiekitty  My psychologist says that it's good if I can have several hours or even a day after our sessions to do what I call percolating what's come up.  We're doing EMDR some sessions and there's a lot from my past to be dealt with - complex trauma history.  And lots of times so much current stuff that we don't get to do the EMDR.

New pens sound lovely.  Must get some too.

Re: A long rave

Thanks for including me @eth

Right now I'm just...empty. I've been struggling hard but one of the things I struggle with is needing to appear like I have things under control, so I'm just on autopilot at work and ignoring most people I know.

I'm simulateously overwhelmed and underwhelmed with life right now.

The two people who know I'm not doing great keep asking me how I'm doing and I'm sick of saying "well...badly". It just feels stupid and pointless. I'm sick of trying to talk about it.

Re: A long rave

Thanks @eth  Feel really exhausted but am a little easier about bringing up something that I had never mentioned ever to anyone and started talking about it. B said dhe was proud of me to have made it to the stage of trusting her enough to bring it out. I feel a little better about it, but still have a way to go.

Also B saw some of me colouring while I was waiting for her. To settle at the end of the session we looked at some of the pictures and talked about the choice of colours and mediums. One that I really like she asked if I knew why but I didn't. She then said that it reminds her of what she sees in me, panic and wild colour and heaviness in the background and yet up front seeming calm and in control. It is a fairy and I did her in pencil and the wings in bright textas with a black border around the wings. Now that I have thought it over it makes sense and I can see where she got that from. We always do something like looking at things or talking about something unrelated at the end to get back into the current time and world.
