chemisits

Just once it would be sooo nice when I go to the chemist for the pharmistist not to tell me "that this dose is very high, double the amount that is recommended.."

Like I don't already know that my doseage is high. Hard enough accepting this is the rest of my life.

Re: chemisits

Hey @jqw, hoping chemist says it out of concern for your wellbeing.. I had a script challenged last week for a nasal spray for my child.huge allergies and was refused point blank..which was frustrating but then I thought well maybe my GP was wrong as the chemist was adamant...

Re: chemisits

If it wasn't my antidepressants i wouldn't care. They never do it on the side, in case customers or staff can't hear. Makes it so hard for me when it is said in front of my kids. I'm embarrassed enough.

Re: chemisits

Well that is just plain rude and insensitive..is there another chemist in travel proximity that has better manners?
I would be tempted to write a letter to head office if they are part of a chain..or talk to your GP or local hospital about whether anyone else has complained about rude staff there when you next see your GP. My reason for mentioning hospital is some have their own pharmacists on site, probably more expensive but hopefully better customer service..

Re: chemisits

Wow,
it is none of the chemists business what dosage you have been prescribed. Clearly your specialist has you on that dosage and being a specialist has a good understanding of your medical needs.
the chemist job is to fill the script.
I get asked sometimes if I have had (fill in the blank) before. I say no they give me the fact sheet. If I say yes then they fill the script no fact sheet.
it almost sounds like your chemist fancies themself as a dr.
when in fact they are just a shop attendant.
I know one of my meds is higher then normal treating amount I had that discussion with my specialist.
In no way shape or form is a chemist entitled to make any such call on dosage level.
all they can do is ask if you want chemist brand which is usually worse then the real brand side effect wise. And if you have taken it before and I have haf some try to tell me how to take it like I was an idiot. I very calm but extremely rudely told them to put a sock in it as my specialist and I had discussed how to take it. It certainly put him back in his place.
People who think they are more than what there job is annoy me.
I would do like what sandy has suggested and write a complaint.

Re: chemisits

I have told my phsyc and the last time he did up a script for me he wrote it in capitals this is the correct dose, please don't ask my patient if this is correct. I then highlighted it when i took it home. When i went to a different chemist nothing was said! Was a win win for me that day!

Today was just not a good day to hear it. Im positive it is only because my mother and my ex husband use to refer to them as my crazy pills. (i am bloody crazy if i don't take them!)

Re: chemisits

I will tell you something else that many psych's and GP's do..medication is ruddy expensive so my mom D's were always double strength and then I used a pill cutter to get my daily dose. My dr did this to save me lots of dish, and I only needed a script every two months. Only works on tablets, not possible with capsules..
Rude chemist might just be a right d***head!
Hope some chemists read this post. Many chemists are fantastic sources of information, helpful and knowledgeable.. Don't be put off finding a good one by this nitwitted one..

Re: chemisits

Rick, the thing that offends me is when you take a repeat script in the assistant always ask, "have you taken this before "because...) my replyMan Mad is a swift "it is a repeat of course I have taken them before. " Bloody dumb people cannot read.
