Looking after ourselves

Resigning from website.

My name on the forums is Pip.  I too, like Decadian resigned from another website/forum after pressure from the moderators.  The forum I was involved with had started to turn policital.  The main topic was the gay community, otherwise called GLBTI.  I have absolutely no issues with Gay/Lesbian/Bi/Trans gender.  My main objection is open affection.  It wouldn't matter whether the couple were hetero or not.  If they are openly affectionate, to the point of almost undressing, I get embarrassed.  I have never commented about this to anyone, it's just my personal opinion.  When I mentioned this on the other forum (Australian based), I was well and truly reprimanded.  I was informed that my opinions distressed and upset other members of the forums.  I can only deduce that the moderator wanted me out of the forum because my general knowledge was greater than hers on some subjects.  I know other members of the public also feel embarrassed by too much open affection, but, like me, some don't say anything.  Some people do comment, which is their right. We all have the right to freedom of expression, but we need also to be aware of others feelings.  This goes both ways, though.  If we say or do something that upsets or offends others, we should acknowledge and apologize.  I did acknowledge and apologize, but was asked to resigne.  I then found out that the moderators had informed others on the forum that I had left of my own accord.  I have found with SANE most of the topics I can relate to.  If I can't I either leave it, or offer suggestions. No-one is perfect, but this other forum made me feel I didn't know what I was talking about.

Re: Resigning from website.

Hey @pip I classify myself as lesbian and although I will peck my gf in public or hold hands, I find sexual behaviour in public extremely uncomfortable too. For me such behaviours are a private thing and what I do at home doesn't need to be openly expressed in public. I do go to LGBTI clubs and socialise there with my gf so I guess I need to be more flexible too (some gay clubs have almost orgies happening on the dance floor). 😮

Re: Resigning from website.

Hey Queenie. I had actually suspected (if that's the right phraseology) that you could be Gay. Congrats for admitting. I'm proud of you for that. Also pleased you share my views on open sexual behaviour. Kissing, cuddling I can accept, but, as you said, some things are best behind closed doors. I hope you weren't offended by my honesty. I try not to offend, and apologize when I do. I'm pleased you have a gf, and hope you'll be with her for a long time.

Re: Resigning from website.

I'm proud of who I am 🙂

Not offended at all @pip, totally agree with you 🙂
