Mind + Body Challenge 1

Good Morning and welcome to Mental Health Week,

Lets kick off the Mind + Body challenge with challenge one......

Switch sugary drinks for water for one day

Why? Sugary drinks like soft drinks, energy drinks and fruit drinks are full of sugar, they give you a quick burst of energy and leave you wanting more later. Water on the other hand keeps us hydrated and alive.

The benefits of swapping to water include:

Reduced risk of tooth decay and erosion
Weight loss- sugary drinks are high in kilojoules and contribute to weight gain and obesity
Reduced risk of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease through weight loss
It costs less and you can get it from the tap any time you like
Choose a reusable water bottle that you can fill up from the tap and help reduce the amount of plastic bottles ending up in landfill.
If you want to know more visit the H3O Challenge

Let us know how you go… what was hard, what helped? If you were able to do this for a day, what is your biggest tip for those out there struggling?

I'll be back on Wednesday with challenge two- good luck!

I'm going to give this a go!!

The H3O is a great resource.

Thanks Catriona!

Re: Mind + Body Challenge 1

Hi,

I have been meaning to try this! I'm not an every day soft drink person... but I am guilty of having more than I should. Man Surprised

A tip that I've got before.. and will try tomorrow, is to have soda water instead. Buy it in a 500ml bottle, so you feel like a regular soft drink. I have read that sometimes the "ritual" of the habit  (the feeling of that can of coke in your hand!) is sometimes what gives you that positive feeling/excitment.

So, tomorrow I'm going to have a bottle of soda water and try and trick myself!

Man Very Happy
